Seriously, what is this kinja bullshit? Uploading pictures used to be only a minor pain in the ass, but now its a major pain in the ass. It seems like it takes a millennium for these pictures to "process"

If you upload animated GIFs, they take a long time to process and you'll see this placeholder while they're doing so. You'll only see the placeholder for a minute or two, then it'll go away.

i've actually been uploading regular jpegs, and sometimes I see this for 10-15 minutes. I know file size plays a part in how long it takes but I never remember it taking this long

Other people see the image fine. Only you see the bullshit placeholder on the device you posted from. At least thats been my exeriance with it. Half my post show that on my laptop, yet work fine on my phone and for my friends.
